Harris and Son’s Landscaping is a locally owned operation based in Indianapolis. Bobby Harris runs the business and works alongside his crew. When you schedule a service, the same people show up every time. No subcontractors, no call center, no rotating faces.

· When should I put down pre-emergent? Apply pre-emergent in central Indiana between late March and early April, before soil temperatures reach 50°F to 55°F. You can track local soil temps using Purdue Extension resources.
 
· How high should I cut my grass? Set your mower deck to 3 to 4 inches. Never remove more than 1/3 of the grass blade in a single mow to avoid stressing the root system.
 
· How much does professional mowing cost? Weekly mowing and edging in the Indianapolis and New Bethel area generally run between $40 to $85 per visit.
· How much water does my lawn need? Cool-season lawns need 1 to 1.5 inches of water per week (including rainfall) to soak the soil 6 to 8 inches deep.
 
· Should I water during a summer dry spell? If you don’t irrigate, your lawn will go dormant and turn brown. Water it just enough (about 1/2 inch every two weeks) to keep the crowns alive until autumn rain returns.
 When is the best time to overseed? The absolute best window for overseeding and aerating in Indiana is early September. Fall germination benefits from warm soil and cool air, avoiding the heavy weed competition of spring.
 
· Should I leave grass clippings on the lawn? Yes, clippings return valuable nitrogen to the soil, provided they aren’t clumped up and smothering the turf.
 
· What are the most common lawn problems in Indiana? Indiana homeowners commonly deal with brown spots, weeds, thin patches, compacted clay soil, and seasonal stress from heat and drought.
 
· Do you provide free lawn care estimates? Yes. We offer free estimates for lawn mowing, landscaping, aeration, seasonal cleanups, and other property maintenance services.

This is the third time I have hired Bob and his crew to do landscaping. He listens to what you are trying to do. Gives recommendations, not telling you what to do but recommending what he can do and what you want to do.
He gives an honest quote that is reasonable and will work within your budget.
My home is over 60 years old, and they have done wonders upgrading my curb appeal. I had old dirt trim around my foundation, which was imposable to keep neat. They removed the old dirt, put down a weed barrier, and filled with small river stones. At my age pulling weeds and trying to keep flowers was getting painful. Now I put out planters with flowers and herbs.
He gives notice when his people will show up, Bobs people show up ready to work, they know what is expected and if there are any issues they will confer with you before moving forward to avoid any possibility of you being disappointed.
I will call him anytime I am planning additional landscaping.

I had a huge lawn project and they exceeded expectations—all 5 Stars! I had them remove 12+ shrubs; trim weeping cherry; cleanup & reshape landscape beds; add lattice to the bottom of and re-stain the deck; bury downspouts etc. And I appreciated the extra time spent to repair an old fence gate; remove an unsightly stump; and add grass seed. Bobby provided a detailed, written estimate within 24 hours of my call. He was very responsive, organized, and kept me up to date throughout the project. The entire crew was a pleasure to work with and did an excellent job. Highly recommend Harris & Son’s.

Fantastic work all around. Excellent communication. Clear billing. Good people. Great eye for design and good taste. Executes well. Asked good questions and gave good advice.

Had tree removal, grass planted, ruined garden beds weeded, cleared, cleaned and replanted, including mulch, stone placement, cleanup was flawless - not a splinter left. Price was excellent. Did everything in 3 visits.

Really good monthly service options as well. Weekly trim, edge, mow work with seasonal leaf removal and mulching.

Pictures are all "after" and within 48 hours of work.
