Poor grade is the reason yards flood, sod fails, and basements take on water. Harris & Son’s Landscaping provides finish grading services across Indianapolis, Greenwood, Center Grove, and surrounding areas. We correct the slope, prep the surface, and make sure water moves away from the structure the way it’s supposed to.
When You Need Finish Grading
If you’re putting down sod or seed and the ground isn’t level, you’re wasting money. If water pools against your foundation after every rain, the grade is working against you. If you’ve had construction, an addition, or excavation work done, the ground almost certainly needs to be finished before anything else goes on top of it.
Finish grading is also the right call before any landscaping install. Beds, borders, and planted areas all sit and drain better when the base grade is correct.
How We Do It
We bring in or remove soil to within one to two inches of final grade, then use finish grading equipment to pulverize and smooth the surface, removing rock and debris in the process. The result is a clean, even seedbed or sod base ready for the next step.
If drainage correction is needed alongside grading, we can address both in the same project.
What Is Finish Grading
After rough grading, the finish grading can begin. Finish grading is the adding or removing of soil to within 1 to 2 inches of the existing grade, creating the final contour and elevation of the ground needed to prepare your yard for a sod base, hydroseed bed, or another specific plan. This process is important to having a nice lawn, providing the final shaping and preparation for the seed bed or sod base. Our finish grading equipment is designed to remove extra rock and debris from the seedbed while pulverizing the soil, creating a smooth finish.
