Clean edges are what separate a maintained yard from one that just gets mowed. Harris & Son’s Landscaping provides flower bed edging and landscape border installation across Indianapolis, Greenwood, Center Grove, and surrounding areas. Sharp lines, clean separation, and beds that stay defined through the season.
What We Do
We cut clean edges between lawn and bed areas, install landscape borders and edging materials, and maintain those lines on recurring visits. Edging keeps grass from creeping into beds, keeps mulch and soil where it belongs, and gives the whole yard a finished look that holds up between visits.
For new bed installations or redesigns, we establish the border first so everything that follows, mulch, plants, rock, has a clean frame to work within.
Why It Matters
Undefined bed edges are one of the first things a homeowner notices when a yard starts looking neglected. It’s also one of the fastest things to fix. A properly edged bed makes the entire landscape look more intentional, increases curb appeal, and makes ongoing maintenance easier for both the crew and the homeowner.

Flower bed edging helps define the flower bed space by marking it off from the rest of the yard. The edging pieces either create curved or straight lines to establish the area. Install the border when you initially create the garden to design the space or add it later to define further the bed already created. Edging material creates distinct areas in the landscape to divide up the space.
The edging material keeps all the flower bed elements where they belong when the border is installed properly to extend above and below the dirt line. The underground portion of the border prevents the plant roots from growing outside the bed, while keeping grass in the lawn. The upper portion of the edging material keeps the dirt and mulch from being washing and or blowing out of the flower bed.
A border along a flower bed makes maintenance of the landscaped areas easier for the homeowner. Edging weeds or mowing grass along a solid border is easier than along an open flower bed. The plants inside the border are less likely to become damaged from the weeding and mowing process because the edging shields them.
A flower bed border cleans up the lines of the landscaped area making it look more aesthetically pleasing. With several different design options available, the border is a way to add style to your garden.
